Vance Parker Law, PLLC

Long term care and Medicaid planning combines the health care, financial and legal needs of an individual’s unique situation. The legal aspect of this planning can be complex and requires expertise and an in-depth understanding of Medicaid law and asset protection.

When a senior uses Medicaid to pay for their care, Medicaid counts and records every dollar spent on the Medicaid recipient. Following the Medicaid recipient’s death, Medicare will submit a bill to the recipient’s probate estate for every dollar that Medicaid spent during life. This is a program called Medicaid Estate Recovery.  If not properly protected, Medicaid Estate Recovery can cause families to lose valuable assets including the recipient’s home. Long term care and Medicaid planning allows the recipient to protect these valuable assets and preserve more of the senior’s estate.
