Along with our legal colleague, Vance Parker Law, PLLC, we are committed to helping families with the financial and legal challenges presented by long-term care costs. A graduate of NC State University, Karen began her career working in public accounting with Price Waterhouse in Raleigh, NC, and then moved into the private sector as a Controller and Chief Financial Officer for various companies in Los Angeles. After returning to the East Coast and starting a family, Karen helped implement new accounting systems for companies like Lockheed Martin and Gentiva Health Services.
Later, when her daughter flew the nest for college, Karen met Vance Parker and began helping him in his law practice. She found that she gravitated toward the needs of the elderly, so she focused on Long Term Care Planning, which grew into Parker Eldercare. Karen still handles the accounting and other administrative tasks for Vance Parker Law, but her first love is for the fulfilling work and personal connection she makes helping her clients and their families.
Allyson graduated from Northwestern University with a Creative Writing degree that led her to Hollywood after graduation. In Hollywood, Allyson spent three seasons working on the AMC television series, Fear the Walking Dead, in the Post Production and Writing Departments. What Allyson loved most about this experience was the connections she made with people and the stories that came out of those connections. After her time in Hollywood, Allyson moved back home to North Carolina to be closer to family, but she never lost interest in connecting with people and hearing their stories.
Upon moving home, Allyson joined Vance Parker Law as a paralegal before transitioning to a digital marketing company that promotes independently published books, where she was reminded of how much she enjoys using marketing and storytelling to reach an audience. Since then, Ally has enjoyed building brands and developing marketing strategies that are both human-centered and data-driven.
A North Carolina-licensed attorney in good standing since 1992, Vance holds his Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) degree and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), ElderCounsel, the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA) Elder and Special Needs Law Section, the NCBA Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law Section, the NCBA Real Property Section, and the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
